Historical Bushveld farm with arable land

You have certainly not experienced Magaliesburg if you haven't seen this hidden little valley, and overlooking it is a lovely traditional 1870s farmhouse of historical interest. This was the original homestead of one of the historical farms with its steep pitched roof and wide verandas.

The main entrance opens up into the living room with its parquet flooring and featured sleeper fireplace but usually one enters through the terraced garden and quaint porch into the kitchen which, like most farmhouses, is the heart of the house with the old Ellis de Luxe wood stove for warmth in winter. The adjacent little breakfast nook overlooks the gardens. A separate dining room leads on to the jasmine surrounded veranda with panoramic views of the lands to the hills beyond, from which in summer months, when the dam fills up, you can look over the water while you braai, or in winter watch the stunning sunsets listening to the lions roar in the distance.

The house has plenty of accommodation with 4 bedrooms. The main bedroom is en-suite with a Victorian style bathroom and a walk-in wardrobe, whilst the other bedrooms are serviced by a full bathroom and an outside shower which looks over the bush to the old stone kraal. There is also added accommodation in the form of a thatched rondavel attached to the main house which is spacious with a queen bed and it's own en-suite shower.

Walking from the main house past a small sparkling swimming pool, one goes to the traditional Barn which was built at the same time as the house and stone kraal. It comprises a large workshop and areas for hay bales and storage. There are 4 carports and outbuildings, of which one is now a laundry and shower. Between the barn and outbuilding there is an enclosed vegetable garden area where one can hang washing. All this has great potential for upgrading.

Away from the main house, up the hill towards the old windmill there is a cottage which was converted from the old packing shed and dairy into a sizeable dwelling with a large living area, kitchen, 4 bedrooms and 2 and a half bathrooms. A covered stoep and little garden looking towards the hills beyond. Behind this cottage you will find the first two seasonal dams which channels down to the third dam in front of the main farmstead.

The property is divided in two by a gravel servitude road leading to 3 other farms. The side where the homestead is situated measures about 10 hectares and has lands put down to a mixed pasture in front of the house. The bottom land was planted with Smuts Finger grass and has a small dam filled by a spring. On this side of the road there is a large ground dam fed from water off the hills with a picnic area and a further smaller dam which are interlinked to the dam in front of the house, but the system is not in use at the moment. On the other side of the road is about 15 hectares of beautiful natural bush, ranging from the high point which has a 360 degree view of the surrounding countryside down to the Tolkenesque gorge made by water over the years running through the property next to the adjacent game farm. One can see where the wagons would have set out from the old dry stone kraal and the impression of the road as it would have split to go to Rustenburg or Krugersdorp.

Old world charm at it's best and versatile lifestyle opportunity. With the classic countryside accommodation, a great offering for mid-week or weekend guest accommodation.
